Flathead River Rise

Following 2 days of temperatures in the high 80's, the river is running bank full. The authorities say it will crest tommorrow at about a foot over flood stage. It's been a few years since we had high water so there's some interesting stuff floating down. Many logs, some burned black from some fire, way upstream and some old docks and outdoor furniture. The temp. is supposed to cool off a little now, although some rain is forecast, we hope not too much.

This brings back memories of a few summers when the Flathead flooded. It was always so fun to ride our bikes over to the bridge and watch. The Snake is running very muddy, but not extremely full as they are holding alot of water back in Jackson Lake up in the park. There is still a ton of snow in the mountains here though.

Wow, we haven't been over to look at the river. If we get that rain tomorrow it may spell flooding problems. Thanks for posting some pictures.

Oh ya, this is unreal -- I enjoyed sitting by the river on my lunch break today and watch lots of logs float by - fast too!! And to actually hear the rushing of the water - it was unreal - kind of scary, but cool!!
